O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers, as the old saying goes, is keeping the good wine till last with more than 60 properties going under the hammer in its Wild Atlantic Way summer all day auction. Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce said this auction, which will be held on July 22 in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, is the fourth Wild Atlantic Way property auction of 2016.

O’Donnellan & Joyce recorded the largest volume of auction sales this year to date, when it held its second Wild Atlantic Way property auction on Wednesday May 4. The company recorded €9 million in property sales on the day. Properties throughout the western seaboard from Galway to Donegal and Galway down to Kerry went under the auction hammer. The auction room in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, was packed to capacity with more than 700 people in attendance at the morning and afternoon sessions.

Despite the crucial role many women played in the 1916 Rising, very few were given the credit they deserved. In fact some were refused a pension for many years because they were not ‘men’. In at least one case, the valiant role played by Nurse Elizabeth O’Farrell was simply airbrushed out of history.

O’Donnellan & Joyce’s property auction on October 2 from 10am in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, will be the largest auction in the west of Ireland this year with enormous interest anticipated.
